Join the United Strings of Europe and soprano Ruby Hughes in London’s East End for the ensemble’s debut at Wilton’s with a new arrangement of Richard Strauss’s towering masterpiece Metamorphosen.
Showcasing music from the group’s critically-acclaimed new album Renewal, renowned soprano Ruby Hughes will perform Osvaldo Golijov’s moving Three Songs for Soprano, exploring tragic loss and the composer’s Jewish-Argentinian heritage with songs in Yiddish, Galician and English.
Other music from the album includes a new arrangement of Joanna Marsh’s In Winter’s House alongside Caroline Shaw’s modern classic Entr’acte, a tour-de-force for strings inspired by Haydn’s chamber music. The programme also includes Philip Herbert’s In Memoriam Stephen Lawrence and Metamorphosen by Richard Strauss.
